Podcast Spotlight: Meet Zahid Buttar of Epic Sports Marketing

I recently had the pleasure of welcoming Zahid Buttar, founder of Epic Sports Marketing, to the podcast—and this was a conversation that fits perfectly with what we talk about here in the Well Beyond 50 community.

Zahid is an entrepreneur, endurance sports enthusiast, competitive cyclist, coach, and someone who truly believes that staying active is about much more than exercise. It's about challenging yourself, staying engaged with life, building community, and continuing to pursue goals regardless of your age.

Turning a Passion for Sports Into a Business

Zahid's journey is a great example of what can happen when passion and entrepreneurship come together. Through Epic Sports Marketing, Zahid and his team have spent years creating and managing running and endurance events, including 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, triathlons, and other athletic events. But what really caught my attention wasn't simply the number of events he's been involved with.

It was the philosophy behind them. Events like these give everyday people something to work toward. For one person, the goal might be completing a half marathon.

For someone else, it might be running their first 5K. And for another person, success might simply mean getting off the couch, walking more consistently, and deciding that their health deserves to become a priority again. That's a message I believe strongly in.

You Don't Have to Be an Elite Athlete

One of the biggest mistakes we can make—especially as we get older—is comparing our starting point to someone else's finish line.

You don't have to become a marathon runner.

You don't have to become a competitive cyclist.

And you certainly don't have to train like you did when you were 25.

You just have to start.

Maybe your first goal is walking a mile.

Maybe it's signing up for your first 5K and walking the entire thing.

Maybe it's getting back into the gym, riding a bike again, improving your strength, losing weight, or simply proving to yourself that you're capable of more than you've been giving yourself credit for.

That's what getting Well Beyond 50 is all about.

Your Next Chapter Can Still Be an Active One

My conversation with Zahid is another reminder that getting older doesn't mean we have to stop setting goals. In fact, I believe this season of life can be one of the best times to create new ones. Our bodies may change.

Our approach to exercise may need to change. Recovery may look different.

Nutrition becomes even more important. But our desire to challenge ourselves, grow, experience life, and become healthier doesn't have an expiration date.

That's why I enjoyed sitting down with Zahid. His work with Epic Sports Marketing demonstrates something I've been saying for a long time:

Movement isn't just about burning calories. It's about continuing to participate in your own life.

Whether your next finish line is a half marathon, a 5K, losing 20 pounds, building muscle, improving your blood sugar, or simply being able to move through your day with more strength and confidence—the important thing is that you have a finish line you're moving toward.

Listen to My Conversation With Zahid Buttar

I invite you to check out my conversation with Zahid Buttar of Epic Sports Marketing as we talk about his journey, entrepreneurship, endurance sports, staying active, and the mindset that keeps us moving forward.

And while you're listening, I want you to ask yourself one question:

What's one physical goal you've been telling yourself you're too old, too out of shape, or too far behind to accomplish?

Write it down. Then figure out what the first step looks like.

Because being over 50 doesn't mean it's time to start sitting life out.

We've still got races to run, goals to accomplish, businesses to build, places to see, people to impact—and a whole lot of life left to live.

It's time to get Well Beyond 50.
