The Word of the Week!
Word of the Week: DISCIPLINE
There are going to be days when you feel motivated—and there are going to be days when you don’t. That’s exactly why this week’s Word of the Week is DISCIPLINE.
Motivation can get you started, but discipline is what keeps you moving when the excitement wears off.
After 50, taking care of our health can’t always depend on how we feel that day. There may be mornings when you don’t feel like exercising. Days when the healthier meal isn’t the most convenient choice. Nights when sitting on the couch sounds a lot better than taking that walk.
Discipline says, “I’m going to do what I said I was going to do—even when I don’t feel like doing it.”
Stop Negotiating With Yourself
One of the biggest obstacles we face is the conversation we have with ourselves.
“I’ll start tomorrow.”
“I’m too tired today.”
“I’ve already messed up this week, so I might as well start again Monday.”
“At my age, does it really matter?”
Yes, it matters.
Every workout matters. Every healthier meal matters. Every walk matters. Every good decision matters.
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to completely change your life overnight. But you do have to make a decision that your health is worth being disciplined about.
Your future self is depending on the decisions you make today.
Discipline Is an Act of Self-Respect
We often think of discipline as punishment or restriction. I want you to look at it differently.
Discipline is keeping a promise to yourself.
It’s saying:
My health matters. My strength matters. My independence matters. My quality of life matters. My future matters.
And when you begin stacking those disciplined decisions—one meal, one workout, one walk and one day at a time—you begin building something powerful:
Consistency.
You may not see a dramatic difference tomorrow, but give those disciplined decisions time to accumulate.
That’s where change happens.
🎥 Watch This Week’s Short Video: DISCIPLINE
I recorded a short video about this week’s word because I want to challenge you to think about where you may be negotiating with yourself when it comes to your health.
Take a few minutes to watch the Word of the Week video on DISCIPLINE, and then ask yourself one question:
“What is one thing I already know I need to do—but I keep talking myself out of doing?”
Whatever your answer is, start there.
Not next month.
Not next Monday.
Today.
