The Word of the Week. Are You Ready?

Happy Monday!! The Word of the Week is COMMITMENT.
And this week, I want to go a little deeper because commitment isn't just about exercise, eating better, or losing weight.
Commitment touches almost every meaningful area of our lives.
Think about it.
Marriage requires commitment.
Raising a family requires commitment.
Building a business requires commitment.
Growing a career requires commitment.
Managing your finances requires commitment.
Maintaining friendships requires commitment.
Taking care of your health requires commitment.
And becoming the person you know you're capable of becoming requires commitment.
Here's the thing about commitment:
It's easy to be committed when everything is going well.
It's easy to love your marriage when you're getting along.
It's easy to be excited about your business when customers are coming in.
It's easy to work toward a goal when you're seeing progress.
It's easy to exercise when you're motivated.
It's easy to eat better when life isn't stressful.
But what happens when things get difficult?
That's when commitment gets tested.
Commitment says, "I'm still here."
Commitment says, "I'm going to keep working on this."
Commitment says, "I may have had a bad day, but I'm not turning it into a bad month."
Commitment says, "This matters too much to me to quit."
Sometimes We Need to Stop Negotiating With Ourselves
One of the biggest lessons I've learned in life is that we can talk ourselves out of almost anything.
"I'll start Monday."
"I'll do it next month."
"Things are too busy right now."
"I'll work on my marriage when things settle down."
"I'll start that business when the timing is better."
"I'll get serious about my health when I lose a few pounds."
"I'll go to the gym when I have more energy."
But at some point, we have to stop negotiating with the commitments we've already made.
Because life doesn't always give us the perfect conditions.
Sometimes you have to work on the marriage when it's difficult.
Sometimes you have to keep building the business when nobody seems to notice.
Sometimes you have to keep pursuing the dream when you're questioning whether it's worth it.
Sometimes you have to get up and exercise when you don't feel like it.
Sometimes you have to choose the healthier meal when you'd rather have something else.
And sometimes you simply have to remind yourself:
"I made a commitment, and I'm going to honor it."
What Have You Been Putting Off?
Maybe there's something in your life right now that you know needs more commitment.
Your marriage?
Your family?
Your business?
Your career?
Your finances?
Your health?
Your fitness?
A dream you've been talking about for years?
Or maybe it's simply yourself.
Here's my challenge for you this week:
Don't try to fix everything. Choose one area of your life where you've been making excuses and recommit yourself to it.
Take one step, Make one phone call, Have one difficult conversation, Go for one walk, Do one workout, Prepare one healthy meal, Write one page of the book, Make one business connection.
Whatever it is—start.
Because commitment isn't about being perfect.
Commitment is deciding that something matters enough that you're going to keep showing up for it.
And especially as we get older, I believe we have to become more intentional about what we're committing the rest of our lives to.
We're not finished.
There are still relationships to strengthen.
Businesses to build.
Dreams to pursue.
People to impact.
Places to see.
Memories to make.
And yes—a body that we need to take care of so we can be here to experience all of it.
And That Brings Me Back to Your Health...
You can have dreams, goals, businesses, vacations, family plans, and a long bucket list...
But your health affects your ability to enjoy all of them.
That's why I'm inviting you to join me Tuesday evening for my live webinar:
WHY YOUR BODY CHANGES AFTER 50 — AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT
We're going to talk about what's happening with your body as you age and practical things you can begin doing with your nutrition, muscle, movement, metabolism, and lifestyle.
If you've been saying:
"I know I need to do something about my health..."
Maybe this is the week you replace "I need to" with "I'm committed to."

I'll leave you with this:
Motivation asks, "Do I feel like doing it today?"
Commitment says, "I decided this matters, so I'm showing up anyway."
This week, don't just think about what you want.
Ask yourself:
What am I truly committed to?
Then live like it.
Let's keep moving forward and getting Well Beyond 50.
