WORD OF THE WEEK: PROGRESS

Oct 11

Stop Focusing on How Far You Have to Go. Start Recognizing How Far You've Come.

Let me ask you something. When was the last time you gave yourself credit for making progress?

Not for reaching the finish line. Not for achieving some major milestone. But simply for moving forward. You see, one of the biggest mistakes we make in life is measuring our progress only by what we haven't accomplished.

We look at the weight we still need to lose, the money we haven't saved, the goals we haven't reached, the relationships we haven't repaired, or the dreams we haven't fulfilled.

And because we're so focused on what's missing, we fail to recognize what's changing.

But here's something I want you to understand: Progress doesn't always look like success. Sometimes progress simply looks like refusing to quit.

Progress Isn't Always Pretty

Sometimes progress is getting out of bed and going for that walk when you really don't feel like it. Sometimes it's choosing a healthier meal when you've spent years making unhealthy choices. Sometimes it's completing a 15-minute workout when you used to do nothing at all.

And sometimes progress has absolutely nothing to do with your physical health.

Maybe you're learning to forgive someone. Maybe you're becoming more patient with your spouse. Maybe you're finally taking steps toward starting that business you've been talking about for years. Or maybe you're simply learning to believe in yourself again.

That's progress, too!

And every one of those steps deserves to be recognized.

But Let Me Challenge You...

There's another side to progress that we need to talk about.

You cannot keep doing the same things, making the same excuses, and expecting your life to move in a different direction.

At some point, we have to stop confusing wanting change with working toward change.

We say we want better health, but are we making healthier decisions?

We say we want more energy, but are we prioritizing sleep, nutrition, and movement?

We say we want to enjoy our later years, but are we doing anything today to make those years better?

Listen, I understand that life gets busy. I understand that circumstances can be difficult. And I certainly understand that getting older brings challenges we didn't necessarily have in our twenties and thirties.

But here's the question:

Are you allowing those challenges to become your reasons for giving up, or are you finding ways to make progress despite them?

Because there's a difference between moving slowly and standing still.

Your Age Is Not Your Finish Line

One of the reasons I'm so passionate about The Well Beyond 50 Reset is that I believe too many people have accepted the idea that declining health, unwanted weight gain, and losing strength are simply things they have to surrender to as they age. Yes, our bodies change as we get older. Yes, we may have to approach exercise, nutrition, and recovery differently. But getting older doesn't mean we should stop working toward becoming healthier, stronger, and more capable.

You may not be able to do everything you did at 25. But that doesn't mean you can't become a healthier version of yourself at 55, 65, or even 75.

And here's something else worth remembering:

Progress isn't always measured by the number on your bathroom scale.

Sometimes it's having more energy throughout the day. Sometimes it's getting stronger, improving your mobility, sleeping better, or feeling more confident about your future.

Those victories matter!

One Final Thought...

Don't allow the progress you haven't made blind you to the progress you could start making today.

You don't need to be perfect.

You don't need to have all the answers.

And you certainly don't need to wait until everything in your life is just right.

You simply need to be willing to take the next step.

Because progress isn't about becoming perfect.

It's about becoming better than you were yesterday.

And remember, the goal isn't simply to get older.

The goal is to get WELL BEYOND 50!
